On a royal blue label, a twin-engine propeller airliner banks over golden clouds while the Southern Airways script, topped by a soaring gull, fills the sky. Southern Airways was founded on 1 February 1944 by Frank Hulse and Ike Jones and began flying in 1949 from its home in Atlanta, Georgia. Douglas DC-3s formed the backbone of its early fleet. On 1 July 1979 Southern merged with North Central Airlines to form Republic Airlines. Stickers like this went home on passengers' luggage.
