Vintage-style poster art for Air France with the slogan "Marseille - Alger en 5 heures": a black palm tree stands against a bright yellow ground. This is a modern re-creation and its artist is not recorded, but the five-hour claim is genuine. Albert Solon's 1934 poster for the airline, one of the first Air France ever issued, advertised Marseille, the Balearic Islands and Algiers as about five hours apart. Air France itself was only a year old at the time, formed in 1933 from four French airlines including Air Union and Air Orient.
