Bernard Villemot designed this Air France poster for North Africa in the late 1940s, seen here in its English-language edition. White buildings touched with pale pink and yellow cluster around a tall central minaret against a soft blue ground, a scene drawn from Casablanca and other Moroccan cities. Air France had close ties to North Africa: Morocco was then under French rule, and during the Second World War the airline moved its operations from France to Casablanca. By 1948 Air France flew some 130 aircraft, one of the largest fleets in the world.
