Dated 1970, this American Airlines poster for Palm Springs is all heat and color: a sunbathing woman with long, flowing hair stretches across a blazing yellow ground. The desert resort in California's Coachella Valley had long been a winter getaway favored by Hollywood, and the poster sells it simply as a place to lie in the sun. A copy is catalogued in the People's Graphic Design Archive, which dates it to 1970 and credits it to American Airlines; the individual artist is not recorded.
