The AA eagle sits at the center of this red roundel, ringed by "A Service of American Airlines, Inc." and "American Overseas Airlines," with "The American Airlines System" in script. American Overseas Airlines grew out of American Export Airlines, which took its new name in November 1945 after American Airlines gained control of it. AOA flew across the Atlantic to London, Shannon, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Scandinavia until it was merged into Pan Am on September 25, 1950, making this label a reminder of a short chapter.
