The view opens through a pointed Gothic arch onto the Umbrian valley below Assisi, all in cool blues, in this Italian travel poster. Framing the landscape from inside an old stone building is a fitting device for Assisi, the hill town of St. Francis, whose churches and walls look out over the plain toward Perugia. Italian tourism posters of the interwar years often used this kind of window or arch to draw the viewer into a place, as if standing in it already. The artist and date are not recorded here.
