Against a sky-blue disc, a Britannia jet flies beneath the airline's name and crest, with 'Britain's No. 1 Holiday Airline' in gold lettering below. The boast had substance: Britannia grew into the world's largest holiday airline, and by its rebranding it was the biggest charter carrier in the United Kingdom. It began in December 1961 as Euravia at Luton, took the Britannia name in 1964, passed to Germany's TUI Group with Thomson in 2000, and the Britannia name disappeared in May 2005 when the airline became Thomsonfly.
