On a navy disc, a white 'CAL' monogram stretches into the outline of a jet, with the curve of the C wrapping around like a wing and a small five-petal flower trailing behind the tail. China Airlines was founded in Taipei on December 10, 1959, by a group of retired Chinese Air Force officers, and it opened its first international service, to Saigon, in December 1966 with a Lockheed Super Constellation. In October 1995 the airline introduced a new identity built around a pink plum blossom.
