A red falcon sweeps across a silver and blue roundel on this classic Eastern Air Lines label, with EASTERN in block capitals and Air Lines in flowing script. Eastern traced its roots to Pitcairn Aviation, founded in 1926 to fly airmail between New York and Atlanta. World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker became its general manager in 1934 and bought the airline in 1938, building it into one of the great carriers of the American East Coast. Airlines handed out stickers like this for passengers to put on their luggage.
