Inside a red ring lettered in Hebrew and English, this round El Al label sets the airline's name in red Hebrew and Latin letters across a blue-green globe, with propeller airliners circling it and a winged emblem at the top. El Al was incorporated as Israel's flag carrier in November 1948; that September a converted C-54 had flown Chaim Weizmann, Israel's first president, home from Geneva. Passengers were given labels like this to put on their luggage.
