A matador sweeps his cape as the bull charges past in this 1950 Iberia poster titled simply "Spain." The moment of the pass, frozen in bold shapes and color, was one of the most widely used images in Spanish tourist advertising of the time, instantly telling foreign travelers where the plane would take them. Iberia, Spain's national airline, was rebuilding and expanding its network after the war, and posters like this helped introduce the country to a new generation of visitors arriving by air. The artist is not recorded on our copy.
