A rounded cartoon Boeing 767 in Japan Air Lines colors, white with red and blue stripes and the crane on its tail, swoops toward the viewer on a gold disc with B767 lettered above and JAPAN AIR LINES curving along the rim. The oversized engines give it a friendly, toy-like look. Japan Air Lines was formed on 1 August 1951 and opened its first international route, the Pacific Courier service to the US West Coast, in February 1954.
