Beneath, "Fly the Pacific..." in script leads to JAPAN AIR LINES in gold, with DC-6B "Pacific Courier", the slogan WINGS OF THE NEW JAPAN and the airline's name in Japanese characters. Japan Air Lines, formed in 1951, launched its Pacific Courier service to the US West Coast on 5 February 1954 with Douglas DC-6 airliners, its first international route. Passengers received stickers like this for their luggage.
