A smiling cartoon McDonnell Douglas DC-10, its tail engine and fin painted in JAT's red and blue, floats across a bright blue disc beneath the JAT logo, the words Yugoslav Airlines and DC-10. JAT began flying on 1 April 1947 from Belgrade, building on roots in Aeroput, founded in 1927. It added the DC-10-30 for long-haul routes, including one bought in 1978 to replace its Boeing 707s. In 2013 the airline was reorganised and renamed Air Serbia.
