A red disc on a cream square announces "Besetzt, Occupied, Occupé, Ocupado" in German, English, French and Spanish, signed off with the Lufthansa name. Rather than a luggage decoration, this was a practical label for marking something as taken, and its four languages reflect the airline's international reach. Lufthansa won approval to begin scheduled flights again on 1 April 1955 and quickly added London, Paris, Madrid and New York, rebuilding a worldwide network from the ground up.
