Three green discs sit side by side on their original pale yellow backing, each reading "Frei, Vacant, Libre" above the Lufthansa name, with a tiny line noting they were printed in the Federal Republic of Germany. They are the cheerful counterpart to the airline's red "occupied" labels. Lufthansa returned to scheduled service in 1955, entered the jet age with Boeing 707 flights between Frankfurt and New York in March 1960, and grew into Germany's flag carrier.
