Still blue water and trees turning to autumn color fill this poster for "Fontainebleau - Avon," issued by the PLM, the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée railway. Fontainebleau-Avon was the PLM station serving the royal château and its great forest southeast of Paris, a favorite escape for Parisians. The PLM commissioned many leading French poster artists to promote the destinations on its lines; dealers record a PLM Fontainebleau-Avon poster by Julien Lacaze (1886-1971) from around 1930 showing a calm lakeside scene near the château.
