A stylized sea turtle swims through a turquoise sea in this Qantas poster for the Pacific Islands. The artist and exact date are not recorded. The design fits a series Qantas commissioned in the 1950s and 1960s pairing each overseas destination with a bold animal portrait, a set that included the Pacific Islands alongside Hong Kong, India, Britain, the United States and Singapore. From 1954 Qantas Super Constellations crossed the Pacific on the Southern Cross Route, with stops in Fiji, Canton Island and Hawaii on the way from Sydney to San Francisco.
