A dark charcoal tail with a golden crown rises against a cloudy sky, with the Royal Jordanian name in English and Arabic and a thin stripe of colour beneath. The airline was founded in December 1963 by royal decree of King Hussein as Alia, named after his eldest daughter, Princess Alia. In December 1986 it took the name Royal Jordanian Airlines, the identity seen here, flying from its hub at Amman's Queen Alia International Airport.
