A scalloped blue border frames the Spanair name in blue italics, topped by the airline's red and blue wave emblem. Spanair was set up in December 1986 as a joint venture between Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Viajes Marsans and started flying in March 1988, later making Barcelona-El Prat its main hub. SAS owned the airline until 2009, when a Catalan investor group took control. Spanair ceased operations on 27 January 2012. Airlines gave stickers like this to passengers for their luggage.
