This poster from TAE, Greece's national airline in the years before Olympic Airways, presents the whole country as an illustrated map on a crisp white ground under the classical name Hellas. The mainland, the Peloponnese and the scattered islands of the Aegean are laid out for the traveler, inviting a closer look at the destinations the airline linked together. The artist is not recorded on our copy. Maps like this were a favorite device of mid-century airline posters, turning a route network into a picture of a whole nation waiting to be explored.
