Luc-Marie Bayle (1914–2000), a French naval officer and painter, drew this world map for TAI in the manner of an old explorer's chart. Two hemispheres trace the airline's intercontinental routes, with the TAI griffin crest between them, a decorative compass rose below, and a border of sailing ships, galleons, balloons, whales and early aircraft. Dealers date the design to the 1950s, with printings around 1957 and 1960. TAI, founded in 1946, flew from Paris to Africa, Asia and the Pacific before merging with UAT in 1963 to form UTA.
