A desk globe on its stand, scattered with postage stamps from faraway places, sits beneath a passing airliner on this white-ground poster for TAI from around 1950. The stamps hint at the mail and passengers the airline carried across its long routes. Founded in 1946, Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux built a network from Paris to Africa, Indochina and the French Pacific, flying Douglas DC-4 and DC-6 airliners in the 1950s. In 1963 TAI merged with UAT to form UTA, later absorbed into Air France.
