Titled "The Dawn of a New Age," this 1930s design captures the optimism of the streamline era, when sleek metal aircraft seemed to promise a faster, more connected world. A streamlined airplane glides above a misty landscape washed in purple and gold, as if arriving with the sunrise its title describes. The artist and issuer are not recorded. In the 1930s the smooth, rounded forms first worked out for aircraft spread to trains, cars and everyday objects, and posters like this one made the airplane the emblem of modern progress.
