"Only hours away via Mainliner," promises this United Air Lines poster from around 1950, where a hula dancer wearing a lei poses before the green slopes of Diamond Head. The illustrator was not credited; United's posters of the era came both from its in-house art department and from commissioned commercial artists. "Mainliner" was United's name for its flagship four-engine propeller service, a word meant to suggest speed and dependability. Hawaii was still a U.S. territory in 1950, and posters like this helped shape the mainland's picture of the islands as sunny, welcoming and newly within reach.
The Gildan 2000, made with 100% U.S. cotton and the latest breakthrough in soft cotton technology, the Gildan Ultra Cotton family has been remastered for improved printability, quality, and comfort you can see and feel.
