A horse-drawn carriage rolls through Central Park beneath the Manhattan skyline on this 1971 United Air Lines poster, invitingly set against a clean white ground. The artist is not recorded. Dealers note its layered, cut-out look, typical of the brighter graphic style airlines adopted around 1970, and the copy encouraged visitors to take a carriage ride in the park. Hansom cabs along Central Park South had long been one of the city's classic tourist experiences, and United used the image to sell New York as romantic as well as exciting.
