A white stemmed glass stands on a vivid pink field between the words FRAGILE and FRAGIL, with the United Airlines name along the foot. The broken-glass warning is the universal shorthand for 'handle with care', and the two spellings let handlers read it in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Labels like this were stuck on checked bags and parcels rather than given out as souvenirs. United's own story began with a Varney Air Lines airmail flight from Boise to Pasco in April 1926.
