Green bands lettered VOLUNTEER and AIRLINES frame a white panel holding a green oval VA badge with a swept wing. Volunteer Airlines was a commuter carrier of the early 1970s that served Chattanooga in 1971 and 1972; the October 1971 Official Airline Guide shows it flying Britten-Norman Islanders on routes linking Chattanooga with Nashville, Huntsville, Birmingham and Clarksville. The name echoes Tennessee's nickname, the Volunteer State. Small regional carriers like this gave out stickers for passengers' luggage too.
