This small red, white and silver sticker carries the Western Airlines name above a bold "30 years of service," celebrating three decades in the air. The company began as Western Air Express, incorporated in 1925 by Harris Hanshue, and its first flight took place on April 17, 1926, with a Douglas M-2. Western grew into a major carrier with hubs at Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, and passengers were handed stickers like this one to press onto their suitcases. The Western name was retired when the airline merged into Delta on April 1, 1987.
