A yellow map of Africa fills a blue sky in this restored, vintage-style poster art, with the silhouette of an explorer and the line "La ligne de l'Afrique française" – the airline of French Africa. That role belonged to the Régie Air Afrique, created by the French state on 11 May 1934 to organize air services across its African colonies. Its first mail route ran from Algiers across the Sahara to Niamey on a Bloch MB.120, soon reaching Fort-Lamy and the Congo, and passengers were carried from April 1935.
