A slate-grey rectangle with Air Canada's red maple-leaf rondelle above a spaced red AIR CANADA wordmark and a fine red line. The rondelle was first revealed in October 1964 and took flight on January 1, 1965, the day the Crown corporation Trans-Canada Air Lines changed its name to Air Canada. The emblem has been modernised several times since, including in 1993 and 2004, but the maple leaf in a circle has stayed the airline's signature for more than sixty years.
