A red disc on a cream square, with Air China's white phoenix emblem at the centre, the airline's Chinese name in calligraphy around the top and AIR CHINA below. Air China was founded on 1 July 1988 and is based in Beijing. Its phoenix symbol was designed by the artist Han Meilin and doubles as a stylised rendering of the letters VIP, while the Chinese characters are in the calligraphy of former national leader Deng Xiaoping. Airlines gave out stickers like this for passengers' luggage.
