Air France's 1965 "Grèce" poster turns to classical Greece: a tall fluted column rises in the foreground with a temple beyond it, framed in shades of blue. The design reduces the ancient world to a few strong shapes, typical of the airline's 1960s poster style. The artist is not recorded in the sources we could check. Air France was formed in 1933 from several French airlines and, from 1959, flew Sud Aviation Caravelle jets on its European and Mediterranean routes, making a trip to the temples of Greece a matter of hours from Paris.
