Serge Prout's "Paris-Mexico Direct" poster for Air France dates from the early 1950s. A man in a wide sombrero and traditional Mexican dress fills the foreground, seated on the steps of the ancient city of Teotihuacan, while an Air France Lockheed Constellation flies over the great pyramid behind him, all in warm orange tones. The poster was made to announce Air France's direct service between Paris and Mexico, and it leans on Mexico's deep cultural heritage to sell the long journey. Originals were printed by stone lithography by Havas in Paris.
