This 1950 Air France poster for South America sets a white wing curving over the map of the continent against a field of blue. Its artist is not recorded with certainty. Around this time Air France flew from Europe to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires with Lockheed Constellations, airliners able to cross the South Atlantic non-stop. A 1953 Air France poster for the same line lists its stops as Madrid, Dakar, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Montevideo and Buenos Aires, a reminder of how many hops a long-haul flight still took in the propeller age.
