Air France's "Paris-Tokio" poster from the 1950s draws the eye through a frame of cherry blossom branches toward a Japanese pagoda and the countryside beyond, all in soft, pale tones, with an Air France Constellation flying above the scene. The design is credited to the Paris lithography workshop Perceval, which produced many of the airline's posters of the period, and dealers date it to about 1952. Linking Paris with Tokyo was one of the great long-haul ambitions of the era, and this poster sells the journey with pure springtime calm.
