Worked in rich golds and browns, this Air India poster for London gathers Tower Bridge and a heraldic coat of arms around the airline's Maharajah mascot, who looks perfectly at home among the city's pomp. The artist and date are not recorded in the sources we could check. London was one of Air India's first international destinations: from 1948 the airline advertised its service linking Bombay with Cairo, Geneva and London. The Maharajah, created by Bobby Kooka in 1946, went on to visit nearly every city on the network in the airline's posters.
