"...and tomorrow my day will be in Rome," promises this 1962 Air India poster, and there is the Maharajah, the airline's mustachioed mascot, already out sightseeing among the city's monuments against a cool green ground. The artist is not recorded in the sources we could check. Created by Bobby Kooka in 1946, the Maharajah was Air India's globetrotting ambassador, shown in poster after poster throwing himself into the culture of each city on the network. Rome was a regular stop on the airline's routes between India and Europe, and he appears there in several Air India designs.
