Air Transat was founded in Montreal in December 1986 and made its first flight on 14 November 1987, a Lockheed L-1011 TriStar service from Montreal to Acapulco. The airline is still headquartered in Montreal, where it moved its operations from Mirabel to Montreal-Trudeau airport in February 2005.
