The airline traces its beginnings to 1932, when Mac McGee began charter flights out of Anchorage and Star Air Service formed there as a rival; the two came together, and after names such as Star Air Lines and Alaska Star Airlines, the company became Alaska Airlines in the mid-1940s. Airlines gave out stickers like this to passengers for their luggage.
