A plain cream card carries a crisp drawing of an Alaska Airlines jet tail with the Eskimo face on the fin, above the Alaska Airlines name and the small slogan Fly with a happy face. A blue Eskimo face first appeared on the tails of some of the airline's Boeing 727s in 1972. In 1976 Alaska standardised on the Eskimo as its logo, and he gained his smile at the same time as the Fly with a happy face campaign, part of a new focus on customer service. The smiling Eskimo has stayed on Alaska's tails ever since.
