A simple white label in bold type: Alaska Airlines in red over GOLD STREAK in heavy blue capitals. GoldStreak was the name of Alaska Airlines' small-package express service, run by its cargo division for items up to 100 pounds that had to arrive the same day, dropped off as little as an hour before departure. Rural hospitals in Alaska relied on it to bring in short-shelf-life medicines from distribution centres in the Lower 48. Freight has always mattered to this airline, which began in 1932 flying cargo and passengers out of Anchorage.
