This die-cut sticker spreads a pair of blue-outlined wings from a round badge carrying a red star and the words Alaska Star Airlines. The company began in Anchorage in 1932 as Star Air Service, founded by three Seattle pilots. It became Star Air Lines in 1937 and took the Alaska Star Airlines name in July 1942, a title it held only briefly: in 1943 the company was renamed Alaska Airlines, the carrier still flying today. Airlines handed stickers like this to passengers to press onto their suitcases, which makes this short-lived name a rare survivor.
