A crisp white oval ringed in red-orange carries a swept tail fin, the Allegheny name in bold italic letters and the promise Your Air Commuter Service in 12 busy states. Allegheny pioneered the idea of a network of affiliated regional airlines, beginning with Henson Airlines in 1967, so that small cities could connect into its system. The Allegheny Commuter name outlived the parent airline, which became USAir in 1979, and stayed in use until 1989. Airlines gave out stickers like this one for passengers to put on their luggage.
