Swiss-born, New York-based designer Harry Bertschmann (born 1931) painted this poster for American Airlines around 1975 for its "Endless Summer" campaign, which also included a New York design. A masked dancer crowned with an elaborate feathered headdress fills the sheet, rendered in bold, gestural strokes of color, with "Mexico" lettered below. Rather than showing an airliner or a beach, Bertschmann let a single festive figure stand for the whole country. A copy of the poster is held in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which dates it to about 1975.
