A red-coated coachman sounds his horn on this oval American Airlines label for "The Royal Coachman," a DC-7 nonstop transcontinental aircoach. American took delivery of its first DC-7 in November 1953 for nonstop flights between the coasts, and some of its later DC-7Bs were delivered in a Royal Coachman configuration with five-abreast seating, then billed as the fastest aircoach service between New York and Los Angeles. Travelers were given labels like this one to stick on their suitcases.
