Rather than a destination, this American Overseas Airlines poster sells the machine itself: a tight close-up of a big airliner's wing and engines against a clear blue sky, with "AOA – USA" pointing travelers home across the Atlantic. AOA grew out of American Export Airlines, which had flown wartime Atlantic services with Vought-Sikorsky flying boats, and it linked the United States and Europe from 1945 to 1950 with Lockheed Constellations and Boeing 377 Stratocruisers. In 1950 the airline was absorbed by Pan American. The artist of this design is not recorded.
