A jet streaks across this American Trans Air sticker, its tail bearing the airline's blue and gold mark and a small American flag, under the slogan "America's Vacation Airline." American Trans Air was incorporated in Indiana in September 1973 by former chief pilot J. George Mikelsons and grew from its Indianapolis base into a major charter and leisure carrier. It later became ATA Airlines and ceased operations in April 2008. Stickers like this were given to passengers to dress up their luggage on the way to the beach.
