Bold red-winged letters spelling ANA sweep across a globe on this classic Australian National Airways label, with a handwritten "Fly" on a sunny yellow field. Australian National Airways began operating under that name on 1 July 1936 after its registration that May. In October 1957 it was sold to Reginald Ansett's group, and the merged company flew as Ansett-ANA until 1968. Airlines of the era handed stickers like this one to passengers to decorate their suitcases, and they remain a bright reminder of Australia's pioneering airline years.
