Junks and sampans crowd Hong Kong harbour in this "Visit Hong Kong - Fly there by BOAC" poster. Hong Kong Baptist University Library, which holds a copy, dates it to around 1960 and records the artist as unknown. It was a stock design of the Hong Kong Tourist Association, supplied to airlines flying into the colony and here overprinted with BOAC's name; the library's catalogue notes the painted harbour scene's almost film noir mood. For BOAC, Britain's state long-haul airline, Hong Kong was a key destination at the eastern end of its network.
